Scanning the monthly mixtapes of The Magician is a must if you take an interest in the ongoing wave of nu-disco. The Magician is always one step ahead as he often gets to premier bigger releases of other artists due to his great popularity, and his song selection is always spot on. His latest tape directed my attention towards the marvelous remix of the 2002 Angie Stone- classic ‘Wish I Didn’t Miss You’ by the relatively unknown duo Electronic Youth. The track is dominated by a minimal and bouncy bass that makes it’s entrance after a well executed build up. Crank this one up and you will have your proof that good drop’s are insanely effective when kept minimal.
These guys btw almost shares artist-name with the two sweethearts from Electric Youth that have become well-known after their appearance on the College track ‘A Real Hero’ that was used for the motion picture ‘Drive’. That should solve the confusion..
